Privacy Policy

Last updated 13 October 2026

Alexander James Media Pty Ltd (AJM, we, us, our) is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and how we handle it in line with the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). It applies to alexanderjames.media and to any enquiry you make with us.

The information we collect

We only collect personal information we need to respond to you and provide our services. This may include:

  • your name
  • your phone number and email address
  • your company and the services you are interested in
  • anything you choose to tell us in your message
  • basic technical information your browser sends when you visit the site, such as device type and general location

How we collect it

We collect this information directly from you, usually when you complete our contact form, subscribe to our updates, email us, call us, or book a call through our scheduling link. We also collect limited technical information automatically when you browse the site.

Why we use it

We use your information to:

  • respond to your enquiry and provide quotes and services
  • plan and deliver video, photography, website and related work
  • keep in touch with you about your project
  • send occasional updates, but only if you have opted in
  • improve our website and understand how it is used

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for automated decision making.

Who we share it with

We use trusted third party providers to run our business, and your information may be handled by them for that purpose only. These include our website host and form provider (Netlify), our email provider, our scheduling tool (Calendly), our website chat assistant provider (Anthropic), and our analytics and advertising providers (Google and Meta). We may also disclose information where required by law. We do not share your information with anyone else without your consent.

Overseas disclosure

Some of our providers, including Netlify, Calendly, Anthropic, Google and Meta, store data on servers located outside Australia, including in the United States. Where this happens, we take reasonable steps to ensure your information is handled securely and consistently with this policy.

The Contractor Credibility Score

When you complete our free Contractor Credibility Score assessment, we collect your first name, business name, business email, website address, and phone number if you choose to give it, together with your answers, your score and how you found the assessment (for example, which campaign or website referred you). We use this to:

  • calculate your score and show you your report
  • email you your report, which you asked for
  • understand your business so we can follow up with relevant advice if you book a call or leave a phone number
  • send you occasional insights, but only if you tick the separate box to opt in
  • measure which of our marketing works, using de-identified data

Your report is stored behind a private, randomly generated link. Anyone you share that link with can view the report, so treat it like a document you'd email. Assessment data is stored with Netlify in its Sydney, Australia data centre. Our email provider and, where we use one, our customer relationship management system may process your details overseas. We keep assessment records for up to two years after your last activity and then delete them. You can ask us to delete them sooner at any time by emailing info@alexanderjames.media.

We do not send your name, email address, phone number or business name to Google Analytics. If we use the Meta Pixel and Conversions API, we send Meta a hashed (scrambled) version of your email address and first name to measure our advertising, as described in the next section.

Website chat assistant

The chat on our website is an AI assistant. What you type is sent to our AI provider, Anthropic, to generate replies, and the conversation is kept in your browser tab until you close it. If you choose to give us your name and email in the chat, we store those details and the conversation with Netlify in its Sydney, Australia data centre and email them to our team so we can follow up. We do not use the chat for marketing unless you ask us to. Please don't share sensitive personal information in the chat. You can ask us to delete a conversation at any time by emailing info@alexanderjames.media.

Cookies, analytics and advertising

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to help the site function, understand how visitors use it, and measure the performance of our marketing. This includes:

  • Google Analytics, which helps us understand how people find and use the site. It sets cookies and collects usage data such as the pages you visit, time on the site and general location. This information is shared with Google.
  • Meta Pixel, which helps us measure and understand how our content performs on Facebook and Instagram. It sets cookies and shares certain activity on our site with Meta.

You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings, opt out of Google Analytics using Google's browser add-on, and manage advertising preferences in your Google and Meta account settings. Some parts of the site may not work as well if you disable cookies.

How we store and protect it

We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access. We keep your information only for as long as we need it for the purposes described here, or as required by law, and then take reasonable steps to delete or de-identify it.

Marketing and how to opt out

If you have opted in to our updates, you can unsubscribe at any time using the link in our emails, or by contacting us directly. We will action your request promptly.

Accessing and correcting your information

You can ask to access the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it if it is wrong or out of date. Contact us using the details below and we will respond within a reasonable time.

Complaints

If you have a concern about how we have handled your personal information, please contact us first so we can try to resolve it. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version will always be available on this page, with the date it was last updated shown at the top.
